Today’s message is for anyone who is a leader on ANY team and shows how the Power of Consistency is your key to success. Here are a few reasons why being consistent is so important for you:
Consistency allows for measurement.
How can you know if something is working if it isn’t performed the same way, all the time, every time? Too often initiatives are deemed failures …and upon closer review…it was not the process that failed…but we failed at following the process
Consistency creates accountability.
Consistent communication and frequent follow up are your friends when it comes to consistency…monitor your processes closely and often… catch any deviation from a process early….much easier to course correct then.
Consistency establishes your reputation.
It is difficult to be successful if you are constantly shifting priorities or trying new tactics. Many efforts fail before they get to the finish line, but not because the tactic was flawed or goals weren’t clear. The problem is often that the team simply didn’t stay the course to achieve the objective.
Consistency makes you reliable.
Your employees and your customers need a predictable flow of information from you. Consistency gives you credibility.
Consistency maintains your message.
It has often been said, people pay more attention to what you do than to what you say. Make sure your actions support your words. If you treat a process as unimportant, don’t be surprised when you find other team members doing the same.
